The Square of Prof. Č. Strouhal in Seč has retained with its size and character rather a rural nature with the dominant feature of a centrally localed church of St Lawrence and statue of St John of Nepomuk. This space, with the exception of the eastern side of the square, where today a too dominant building of a food shop stands, does not essentially need greater interventions. We decided to suppress the dominant expression of the shop by moving the solitary building of the town hall, which would prove to decompose the axial tie to the church and the central statue. The main idea of our concept is thus the emphasis of the central axis and strengthening of the dominant feature, which have with their importance the right to be the solitary buildings at the centre of attention in the space of the square. We devoted the ground floor of the town hall to the information centre of the town. The upper parts with the inverted arching are intended for a social hall, which the town does not have today. The shift of the town hall back to the space of the square would also confirm its importance. An important motive is the link of the church, town hall and statues in one walkway connection, which is emphasized by the selected material from basalt stones. We consider the preservation of the marketplace to be important, which brings everyday common life to the space of the square; we only assume a change of its implementation.
