The municipality of Modrava is immediately adjacent to the most valuable protected landscape region, the Šumava. It is a famous starting point of year-round mountain tourism and thanks to that is becoming a kind of centre of this region. The aim of the project is to eliminate the great impact of mass parking in one of the most attractive places of Modrava, namely between the Brooks Roklanský and Modravský. It is for that reason that such a solution has been chosen which will de facto hide the entire car park under a green hill. The design anticipates that the traversable area of the garage would run 1 m under the level of the existing terrain and 3m above the terrain the projecting part would be covered by a natural grass-covered hollow. The car park for 140 cars would thus be hidden under the ground and would not disturb the attractive landscape at the confluence of the two brooks. The basic urban-planning concept of the entire design is a maximum of respect to the landscape and an effort for the proposed structure to become its natural component. The structure will be used particularly as a public car park, but its other functions include also a tourist information centre, public toilets with showers, bicycle storage/parking but also a hostel for occasional accommodation in case of need.
