Christian Hill in Klatovy creates a very depressing feeling today. The way of the cross completed by a concrete wall beyond which today we can unfortunately no longer find the Chapel of the Passion of the Lord, which was here still in the 1980s. It therefore offers itself to renew the chapel on its original place, remove the concrete wall and thus return the sense of the whole way of the cross. Since we know the chapel from photographs, we could make a replica relatively faithfully. Considering the complicated development of the place and that not even the situation from the end of the 19th century is original, we, however, selected a free path, similar to the modern depictions on the stone Stations of the Cross. The proposed shape precisely adopts the geometry of the original chapel, nevertheless is abstracted. The resultant form of the chapel is supported mainly by the material selected, which is a transparent resin in a light amber colour. Thanks to that, it is clear that it is a contemporary building that is endeavouring for a dialogue between tradition and the present. The colourfulness is an important part of the whole design, since it will create the once-in-a-lifetime light atmosphere in the interior of the chapel. The shape of the interior altar in the ground plan precisely copies the circular enclosure of the building which changes also into a circle in the layout.
